Peter Bergström

Peter Bergström is a Senior Lecturer in Education and Associate Professor (Docent) in Educational Work at the Department of Education, Umeå University. He earned his PhD in Educational Work in 2012 with the dissertation Designing for the Unknown.

His research focuses on teaching and learning in digital and technology-enhanced environments, with particular interest in how power relations, pedagogical organization, and technology interact in classroom practices. His analyses draw on sociomaterial and educational sociological perspectives.In his current research, he investigates Innovative Learning Environments (ILEs) in Swedish and Nordic contexts. He is the principal investigator of the Swedish Research Council-funded project Aiming for Student-Centred Learning in Innovative Learning Environments: A Longitudinal Study of Teaching Practice and School Organisation. He also serves as the coordinator of the Swedish Research Council-funded network Nordic Network for Research on Teaching and Learning in Innovative Learning Environments (NNILE) and of the ILE research environment at Umeå University.
