Kreeta Niemi (PhD) works as an Academy Research Fellow at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. She has a background in education (classroom teacher program) and social psychology. Her focus has evolved and expanded from classroom interaction using ethnomethodology and conversation analytic methodology to a keen interest in integrated frameworks for learning interaction and communities, as well as their transformations (including spatial, material, and embodied practices) and multimethod approaches, including quantitative methods.
Through her research, she seeks to gain insights into how the recent changes in pedagogy and learning spaces are being enacted in everyday classroom interaction while paying attention to the alignment of teaching interactions and the diverse needs of students. She has published her findings in research articles and actively engages with teachers, parents, and policymakers to translate her research into practice.
